FAQs

These are the questions we hear most often about Pet Petal suncatchers, canvas prints, ornaments, memorial pieces and home keepsakes. Each answer matches our policy pages, and each links to the page with the full rules. If your question is not here, write to [email protected] and we will reply within 24 hours on business days.
Choosing art and styles
What is the difference between watercolor, floral wreath and line art?
Watercolor style uses soft washes of colour and blooms that fade gently into the background, which looks lovely in bright rooms. Floral wreath style places the pet at the centre of a ring of flowers, a little like a framed garden portrait, and is the most classic choice for gifts. Line art style uses fine outlines with lots of open space and only small touches of colour, so it suits modern or busy rooms. You can browse each look on its own: Watercolor Style, Floral Wreath Style and Line Art Style.
Is the pet on my piece drawn from my own pet’s photo?
No. Every pet design in our shop is an illustration of a breed in one of our three styles. It is not a copy of a photo, and we do not ask for a photo upload. On personalised products you choose the breed from a list of 27 dog and cat options, including “Mixed breed dog”, and then add your pet’s name. The name and the flowers make the piece feel personal, while the illustration shows the breed rather than one particular animal.
Are your pieces painted by hand?
No. Every Pet Petal product is printed, and printed to order after you check out. The designs are illustrations in watercolor, floral wreath or line art style. We describe them this way on every page so you know exactly what you are buying. You can read more about how a piece comes together on our about us page.
Which style works best as a gift when I do not know the person’s taste?
Floral wreath is usually the safest choice because it reads as warm and traditional in almost any room. If the person has a minimalist home, line art is a good alternative. For a window, any style works, but watercolor tends to glow the most when light shines through an acrylic suncatcher, such as the Lavender Arch Window Cat Suncatcher.
Personalising your piece
Which products can be personalised?
Five products have built-in personalisation fields: the Personalized Breed & Flower Wreath Suncatcher, the Always in Bloom Memorial Teardrop Suncatcher, the Personalized Pet Name Floral Portrait Canvas, the Personalized Breed & Name Acrylic Ornament and the Personalized Floral Memorial Garden Stone. Depending on the product you pick a breed and type a name, and you may also add years, a year or a tagline, or choose a flower, art style or verse.
Will I see a proof before my piece is printed?
We do not send a proof or mockup before production. Instead, each personalised product page has a live text preview that updates as you type, so you can see how your words sit on the design before you add it to the cart. Please check spelling carefully: we print exactly what you type, including capital letters, spaces and punctuation.
How long can my pet’s name be?
The pet name field accepts up to 14 characters. Shorter names sit more comfortably on small pieces such as a 4 in ornament or a 6 in suncatcher. If your pet has a long name, the live preview will show you how it looks, and choosing a larger size gives the letters more room. Our size guide has a short section on name length and size.
I typed my pet’s name wrong. Can you fix it?
Yes, if you write to us within 24 hours of placing the order. Say a customer typed “Mohci” when the cat is called Mochi: an email with the order number and the correct spelling, sent within that window, is all it takes. After 24 hours the piece may already be in production. The full rules are on our cancel or change an order page.
Sizes
Which suncatcher size should I choose?
Our suncatchers come in 6 in and 8 in. Measure the glass pane where it will hang, not the whole window frame. A 6 in piece suits a small kitchen or bathroom pane, like Biscuit the golden retriever on a peony suncatcher above a sink. An 8 in piece reads better on a larger pane or a window you see from across the room. The size guide has measuring tips for every product.
How do I pick a canvas size for my wall?
A simple rule is to choose art about two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. You can also cut paper to the size you are considering and tape it to the wall for a day. Square canvases come in 12 × 12, 16 × 16 and 20 × 20 in, portrait canvases in 8 × 10, 12 × 16 and 16 × 20 in, and landscape canvases in 16 × 12, 24 × 16 and 36 × 24 in. All sizes are approximate.
Is the poster framed?
No. The Line Art Dog & Cat Duo Poster is sold unframed in 12 × 18, 16 × 24 and 24 × 36 in. These are common poster proportions, so it is worth checking the inside size of any frame you plan to use before you order.
Orders
How long before my order ships?
Every piece is printed to order, and production takes 1–3 business days. After that, your order is on its way. Weekends and public holidays are not business days, so an order placed late on a Friday usually starts production the following week.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Yes, within 24 hours of placing it. Within that window you can cancel, fix a name, change a size or option, or correct the delivery address. Email [email protected] with your order number and what should change. After 24 hours, you can still use our 60-day returns once the item arrives. See Cancel or Change an Order.
Can I order several personalised ornaments in one cart?
Yes. Add each ornament separately with its own breed and name. A household with three cats, for example, would add three acrylic ornaments, each set up on its own before going to the cart. Before checkout, read each line in the cart to make sure every name went with the right breed.
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay with the methods shown at checkout. Our payment methods page explains how payment works. We never ask for card details by email. Sales tax is not collected at checkout.
Shipping
Where do you ship, and how much does it cost?
We ship to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and shipping is free with no minimum order. Orders ship from the USA. We do not currently sell to other countries. Full details are on our shipping and delivery page.
How long does delivery take?
Transit usually takes 7–14 business days after your order leaves us, on top of 1–3 business days for production. We cannot promise arrival on a specific date, so if a piece is meant for a birthday, gotcha day or holiday, ordering early gives it the best chance of arriving in time.
Will I pay import duties in Canada, Australia or New Zealand?
Import duties depend on the destination country. Rules and thresholds vary, so if this matters for your order or for a gift, check the local rules for the recipient’s country before you buy. You are welcome to email us with any questions about your specific order.
How can I check where my order is?
Use our order tracking page with your order number and the email used at checkout. If the status is unclear or you have a concern, email us with your order number and we will look into it.
Returns and refunds
Can I return a personalised piece?
Yes. Every product, including personalised ones, can be returned within 60 days of delivery for any reason. We pay the return postage on every return, change of mind included, by sending you a free return label. Email us to start a return. The steps are on our returns and exchanges policy.
The canvas I chose is too big for my wall. What can I do?
Return it within 60 days of delivery using the free return label we provide. One customer found a 36 × 24 in landscape canvas too wide above a loveseat and sent it back; a smaller size or a refund are both options. Tell us which you prefer when you email.
When will I get my refund?
We issue refunds within 7 days of receiving your return. The refund goes to your original payment method, or, if you prefer, we issue store credit that never expires. How quickly the money shows on your statement after we issue it can depend on your payment provider. See our refund policy.
My ceramic ornament arrived chipped. What should I do?
Please email a photo of the chip, with the packaging if you still have it, and your order number. We will reply within 24 hours on business days with your options. Any photo you send us is used only for your request and is deleted 30 days after delivery.
Memorial gifts
Can I add a pet’s name and years to a memorial piece?
Yes, on the products that offer it. The Always in Bloom Memorial Teardrop Suncatcher takes a name and optional years, for example “Luna 2012 – 2026”. The Personalized Floral Memorial Garden Stone adds a choice of verse. Take your time with the wording; the live preview shows how it will look.
Can I send a memorial gift straight to a friend?
Yes. Enter your friend’s address as the shipping address at checkout. We ship free to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so a teardrop suncatcher can go directly to a friend in Halifax. Order whenever you are ready; there is no rush.
Can a pack of garden slates go to different addresses?
Each order ships to one address. If siblings in Auckland and Perth would each like a slate from the Always in Our Garden Memorial Slate, the simplest way is to place a separate order for each address. Browse the full Memorial Gifts collection for more pieces.
Care
How should I clean a suncatcher or acrylic ornament?
A soft, dry or slightly damp cloth is the gentlest choice for acrylic pieces. Avoid rough sponges and strong cleaners on any printed surface. If you have a question about a specific product, email us before you try anything stronger.
Can garden stones, slates and plaque stakes stay outdoors all year?
We do not make specific claims about outdoor durability. Many people keep memorial pieces in a sheltered spot, such as under a shrub or on a covered porch, or bring them inside during harsh weather. If you plan to leave a piece out all year, email us first and we will tell you what we know about that product.
Is the mug dishwasher or microwave safe?
We do not list dishwasher or microwave claims for the Watercolor Cat & Peonies Mug. Hand washing is the gentlest option for any printed mug. If you need a definite answer, email us before ordering.
Privacy
What happens to photos I email you?
Photos only reach us if you email one, for example to show damage or ask a question. We use them for that request only and delete them 30 days after delivery. More detail is in our privacy policy.
