Payment Methods

Last updated:

Paying for a Pet Petal suncatcher, canvas print or ornament should feel as calm as choosing the design. This page explains how payment works on petpetal.shop: where you see the ways to pay, when your payment is taken, what the total includes, how refunds and store credit return to you, and what to do if a payment does not go through. The payment options available for your order are always the methods shown at checkout, on the final step, before you confirm anything.

Paying in short

  • Ways to pay: the payment methods shown at checkout for your order.
  • Shipping: free on every order to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with no minimum.
  • Sales tax: not collected at checkout.
  • Refunds: issued within 7 days of us receiving a return, to your original payment method or as store credit.
  • Store credit: never expires.
  • Help: [email protected], with a reply within 24 hours on business days.

1. Where to see the ways you can pay

We keep this page free of logos and brand lists on purpose. The payment options on petpetal.shop are presented at checkout, and that screen is always the accurate, current list for your order. When you reach the last step, you will see each available method with a short description of how it works. Choose one, follow its instructions, and your order is placed once the payment is completed.

If you reach checkout and do not see a method that suits you, please do not send payment details to us by email. Write to [email protected] instead, tell us what you were hoping to use, and we will reply within 24 hours on business days with the options we can offer.

Payment we never ask for

  • We never ask you to send card details, passwords or security codes by email or in a support ticket.
  • We never ask for payment through a link sent in a private message or on a social platform.
  • We never ask you to pay a “release fee” or “customs fee” to us by email to free a parcel.

If you receive a request like this that claims to come from Pet Petal, it is not from us. Please forward it to [email protected] and do not reply to the sender.

2. What your total includes

Before you pay, checkout shows a summary of everything in your cart, including the personalisation you typed, such as the pet’s name, years and tagline. Here is what makes up the total.

What you see in the checkout total

Sales taxNot addedPet Petal does not collect sales tax at checkout.

Prices are shown in the currency displayed next to each price and in the checkout summary. If your bank account or card uses a different currency, for example when you are paying from Canada, Australia or New Zealand, your bank or payment provider converts the amount. Any conversion charge or foreign transaction fee is set by your bank or provider, not by Pet Petal.

Import charges

Pet Petal ships from the USA. For parcels to Canada, Australia and New Zealand, import duties and similar charges depend on the destination country and are not part of our checkout total. If you have a question before sending a memorial gift abroad, email us and we will help.

3. When your payment is taken

Your payment is taken when you complete checkout with the method you chose. Your order then moves to preparation, which takes 1–3 business days, because every piece is printed and made to order. If you change your mind, you can cancel or change the order within 24 hours of placing it; our Cancel or Change an Order page explains how.

If a change you request within 24 hours alters the price, for example moving Biscuit’s design from a 6 in suncatcher to a larger canvas print, we tell you the new total first and only go ahead once you agree. If the new total is lower, we explain in the same email how the difference comes back to you.

4. Keeping your payment safe

Every page of petpetal.shop, including checkout, uses an encrypted HTTPS connection; you can see the lock symbol in your browser’s address bar. Payment details are entered into the payment method you choose at checkout and handled by that payment provider, so please make sure you are on petpetal.shop when you pay.

Some banks ask you to confirm a payment in their own app or with a one-time code. This extra step comes from your bank, not from us, and it is there to protect you. If your bank asks, complete the confirmation and checkout will continue.

Simple habits that help

  • Type petpetal.shop yourself or use a bookmark, rather than following a link from an unexpected message.
  • Pay over a private connection rather than a public one where possible.
  • Check that the order total and delivery address are right before confirming.
  • Keep the confirmation email; it holds your order number for any later question.

5. If a payment does not go through

A declined or failed payment usually has a simple cause. No order is placed until a payment succeeds, so you will not be charged for an order that did not complete.

Common payment problems and what to try
What happenedLikely reasonWhat to try
Payment declinedBilling details do not match what your bank holds, or the bank flagged the paymentCheck the billing address and name, then try again or ask your bank.
Checkout keeps loadingA slow connection or a browser extension interrupting the pageWait a moment, refresh, and check your email for a confirmation before trying again.
Bank confirmation did not appearThe bank’s confirmation window was blocked or timed outAllow pop-ups for the page and try again.
Charged but no confirmation emailThe email may be in spam, or the order may still be completingCheck all folders, then email us with the payment date and amount.
Two charges for one orderThe order button may have been pressed twiceEmail us with both references; we check and put it right.

If you are unsure whether an order went through, please write to us before ordering again. We can see whether an order exists and save you from a duplicate.

6. Checking an order before it is prepared

Occasionally we may need to confirm a detail before an order goes into preparation, for example if the delivery address is outside the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, or a payment cannot be completed. If that happens, we email you. If an order cannot go ahead, we cancel it and refund what you paid, and our email tells you so.

7. How money comes back to you

Every product, including pieces personalised with your pet’s name, can be returned within 60 days of delivery for any reason, and we provide the return label free. Once your return reaches us, your refund is issued within 7 days, to your original payment method or as store credit if you prefer. After a refund is issued, your bank or payment provider decides how soon it shows on your statement. The Refund Policy sets out amounts and timing, and the Returns & Exchanges Policy explains how to send an item back.

Refunds to a different currency

A refund is issued in the currency you paid in. If your bank converted the original payment, the amount on your statement can differ slightly because exchange rates change from day to day.

8. Discount codes and store credit

If you have a valid discount code, enter it at checkout and the reduced price appears before you pay. If a code does not work, check its spelling and any conditions that came with it, then email us if you are still unsure.

Store credit comes from a return or a cancellation where you chose credit instead of money back. It never expires, so you can keep it until the right moment, perhaps for a first-Christmas ornament or a pet’s gotcha day. When we issue credit, we email you the amount and explain how to use it on your next order. If your next order costs more than your credit, you pay the difference with the methods shown at checkout.

9. Buying for someone else

Many Pet Petal orders are gifts, such as a memorial teardrop suncatcher reading “Luna 2012 – 2026” for a friend in Halifax, or three acrylic ornaments for three cats in a relative’s home. You pay with your own details as the billing information and enter the recipient’s address for delivery. The order confirmation and any payment emails come only to you. If the gift is returned later, a money refund goes to the method you paid with, unless you agree to store credit for the recipient.

10. Billing details, receipts and disputes

Billing details versus delivery details

The billing name and address belong to the person paying and should match what their bank or payment provider holds. The delivery address is where the parcel goes. They can be different, which is how gifts to Auckland, Perth or Halifax work. A mismatch between the billing details you enter and the ones your bank holds is one of the most common reasons a payment is declined, so it is worth a second look.

Your receipt

The order confirmation email is your receipt. It lists each item with its price, the personalisation you entered, any discount, the shipping line showing free delivery, and the order total. If you need a copy resent, perhaps for a family member sharing the cost of a garden slate pack of 3, email us from the billing address and we will send it again.

If a charge looks wrong

Please write to us before opening a dispute with your bank or payment provider. We can usually see straight away what happened, whether it is a duplicate, a cancelled order or a refund that is still on its way, and put it right. Writing to us first does not affect any right you have with your bank.

Splitting the cost

Each order is paid with one checkout. If several friends want to share the cost of a memorial gift, one person places the order, and the others settle up with that person directly. The refund rules then follow the person who paid, so keep that in mind if the gift might come back.

Paying on a mobile device

Checkout works the same on a small screen as on a computer. If your bank opens its own app to confirm the payment, return to the browser afterwards and wait for the confirmation page before closing it.
